Police Officer Application
Thank you for your interest in becoming a Thornville Police Officer. This area of the web site is designed to make it easy to get started in the process of becoming an auxiliary officer. An auxiliary police officer is a citizen, that has a sense of duty, a desire to serve the community, and that has completed the basic police academy training as required by Ohio law. Currently you must become an auxiliary officer to be eligible for openings that are paid positions. Auxiliary officers are not compensated for their time and can be considered the police equivalent to volunteer firefighters.
Minimum qualifications include:
- Be a US citizen,
- Have a high school diploma or GED,
- Have a valid Ohio driver license,
- Be 18 years of age,
- Completed an approved Ohio Peace Officer Training Commission basic police academy,and
- Have the ability to commit a minimum of 16 hours per month.
Automatic disqualifies are:
- Having six (6) points on your driver license at the time of application,
- Two (2) or more OVI (formerly DUI) convictions,
- Having any felony conviction,
- Having any misdemeanor crime of violence,
- Convicted of committing any crime against police or a government entity such as falsification, resisting arrest, obstructing official business or obstruction of justice, or any pending charges of any of these crimes.
